Location: Concord, NH

Governor Maggie Hassan issued the following statement after today signing House Bill 1212, a measure naming the welcome center at exit 44 on I-93 in honor of Raymond S. Burton:

"Ray Burton was one of the most dedicated, sincere and beloved public servants that the State of New Hampshire has ever known. Throughout his distinguished career of nearly 40 years, Ray Burton served his constituents in the North Country and citizens across New Hampshire with an unmatched passion that left a lasting legacy across our entire state.

"Thanks to Ray Burton's unyielding commitment to the people of New Hampshire, the families and communities of the North Country and of our entire state are stronger. Though we continue to miss him, the Raymond S. Burton Welcome Center at exit 44 on I-93 will be a fitting tribute to his legacy. By formally naming this location in his honor, we will help ensure that Ray Burton will continue to welcome people to the North Country and the state that he loved so dearly."
