Governor Maggie Hassan issued the following statement after today signing House Bill 1378, relative to disabled voters requiring assistance:
"The constitutional right of all citizens to vote is the most fundamental right of our democracy, and in keeping with New Hampshire's strong tradition of inclusion, we have consistently fought to ensure that people who experience disabilities can easily access that right. House Bill 1378 builds on that tradition, helping ensure that the votes of Granite Staters who experience disabilities are counted even if they are physically unable to enter a polling place, without diminishing any requirements that polling places must meet under the American Disabilities Act.
"I am proud to sign this bipartisan bill to help ensure that all Granite Staters have access to their constitutional right to vote -- the most fundamental right of our democracy."
