Governor Hassan Applauds Executive Council Approval of Federal TIFIA Funds to Widen I-93

Following bipartisan approval today by the Executive Council to approve funds from the federal Transportation Infrastructure Finance and Innovation Act (TIFIA) for the widening of Interstate 93 from Salem to Manchester, Governor Maggie Hassan issued the following statement:

"Widening Interstate 93 is a top economic and safety priority for our state, critical to the success of our people and businesses, as well as supporting our travel and tourism industry by improving commutes for visitors. These federal funds are critical to our efforts to complete the expansion of I-93, and I applaud the Executive Council for its bipartisan support of this agreement. Combined with the additional paving, road and bridge maintenance and other important projects that will be advanced by the Ten-Year Transportation Improvement Plan, this is another important bipartisan step forward for a solid, modern transportation infrastructure, which we know is the foundation for long-term economic growth."

Funds from TIFIA will also support the Department of Transportation's work to fix 23 red list bridges and pave more than 1,100 additional miles of state roads. The agreement will be final upon its expected closing next week.
