Rep. Vargas Leads Efforts to Secure Funding for Phase 2 of the Calexico West Land Port of Entry

Rep. Juan Vargas (CA-51) is leading efforts to secure $248 million for Phase 2 of the Calexico West Land Port of Entry (LPOE) Reconfiguration and Expansion Project. President Obama's Fiscal year 2017 budget includes this level of funding, which will be the final funds needed to complete the Calexico West LPOE.

"I'm pleased President Obama included the necessary funds to complete the last phase of the Calexico West LPOE project," said Rep. Vargas. "Investing in our infrastructure will stimulate our mega region and our nation's economic potential, as well as increase jobs, safety, and commercial growth."

Rep. Vargas will continue working with local, state, and national leaders to ensure the funding is obtained. Funds for Phase 1 of the project were approved by Congress in December of 2014.
