Issue Position: Oppose ObamaCare and Work for Real Healthcare Solutions

Issue Position

ObamaCare is advertised by the Obama administration as a huge success -- a success that is mostly due to a Medicaid expansion, in which hospitals are given less for their services. So, somehow, by increasing taxes on individuals and businesses, and paying our doctors, nurses, and medical employees less, we have succeeded in our healthcare struggle? I think not. While our health sector remains in a state of upheaval, we have risen the costs associated with health care coverage, and managed to keep our poorest citizens without affordable coverage. I provide very real reasons to oppose ObamaCare in Kentucky:

Kentucky's ObamaCare is federally-subsidized, and that co-op is running out.
Insurance premiums are rising.
The new taxes are an economic burden, especially as businesses are discouraged to make new hires.
Health jobs are being destroyed and are seen as less desirable career paths.
ObamaCare was not bipartisan, and passed in Kentucky due to an Executive Order from our last governor.

We can do better than this. The rising costs associated with health care coverage are unsustainable. I will work for real health care solutions that put patients back in the driver's seat. I will work to expand access to health care in rural areas and protect our seniors. Do not allow Obama's legacy to remain after he has left office -- and support a new, conservative majority in Frankfort.
