Hastings and Diaz-Balart Statement on National Park Week

Today, Representatives Alcee L. Hastings (D-FL) and Mario Diaz-Balart (R-FL), Co-Chairmen of the Congressional Everglades Caucus, released the following statement marking National Park Week, which runs from April 16th through April 24th. Throughout National Park Week, the National Park Service offers free admission to National Parks across the United States.

"This year as the National Park Service celebrates its centennial, let us recommit ourselves to promoting environmental stewardship and conserving our public lands. These places are treasures that must be preserved, so that all our daughters and sons can experience their grandeur for generations to come," said Hastings. "As Co-Chair of the Congressional Everglades Caucus, I am dedicated to the preservation of one of South Florida's biggest gems, as well as all national parks throughout our country."

Through the "Find Your Park" campaign, the National Park Service is helping more people visit public lands and landmarks -- from state and local parks that capture our nation's natural beauty to historical sites that offer unparalleled perspectives into our past.

Congressman Diaz-Balart said, "I am pleased to congratulate the National Park Service on its centennial. For 100 years, the NPS has provided Americans access to beautiful parks across the country. Everglades National Park is one of our state's natural treasures, and I am proud to co-chair the Congressional Everglades Caucus to advocate for its protection and preservation."
