U.S. Senator John Cornyn (R-TX) has cosponsored a bill to provide governors across the country more flexibility to use the U.S. Department of Labor's Veterans Employment and Training Services program to better help veterans find good jobs. The State Outreach for Local Veterans Employment (SOLVE) Act was introduced by Sen. Pat Toomey (R-PA), and would allow states to implement the Texas model, in which they are able to determine on their own which state agency is best suited to administer federal funds, instead of having to take the Washington-imposed, cookie-cutter approach.

"By making existing federal grants more flexible to help veterans find employment, this bill will enable states to better serve those who have given so much in service to our country," Sen. Cornyn said. "Texas veterans have greatly benefitted from similar programs in our state, and I'm proud to support a measure that will help bring the Texas model nationwide."

The SOLVE Act is supported by The American Legion, Paralyzed Veterans of America, and the National Guard Association of the U.S.
