Deborah Ross, Democratic candidate for U.S. Senate, today earned the endorsement of Planned Parenthood Action Fund for her strong commitment to women's health.
"Planned Parenthood Action Fund is proud to endorse Deborah Ross -- a proven champion with a strong record of service in North Carolina," said Cecile Richards, President of Planned Parenthood Action Fund. "Deborah understands that issues of equal access to health care are not "just women's issues': they are economic issues and affect all North Carolinians. We need a fighter in the Senate who will stand up for values like equal pay, preserving and strengthening historic health care reform, expand access to care for low income individuals, and fight for the millions of patients who access Planned Parenthood health centers every year. Deborah is that candidate and we're proud to join her in this fight."
"Planned Parenthood provides important and life-saving services like cancer screenings and breast exams to thousands women in North Carolina every year," said Deborah. "Washington politicians like Richard Burr have tried time and again to strip this care away from women who otherwise couldn't afford to get it. That's wrong and North Carolina deserves better. The health and well-being of women isn't a political game. As your Senator I'll work to make health care more accessible and affordable for all the people in our state, not try to take it away."
In North Carolina, nearly 30,000 patients are seen at Planned Parenthood every year. They perform more than 2,500 well-woman exams, including cancer screenings with clinical breast exams and pap tests. Additionally, Planned Parenthood cares for almost 2,000 North Carolina men each year.
