U.S. Senator Kelly Ayotte released the following statement regarding the death of U.S. Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia:

"I am deeply saddened by Justice Scalia's sudden passing. Our country has lost a staunch defender of our Constitution and a brilliant jurist, and I am very grateful for his distinguished service to our nation. My thoughts and prayers are with his family at this difficult time."
