US Senator Kelly Ayotte released the following statement today regarding her meeting with the president's Supreme Court nominee:
"Judge Garland and I had a cordial meeting, and I thanked him for his service. We spoke about the important role of the Supreme Court as the ultimate arbiter of our Constitution, and we discussed his background and judicial philosophy. I also explained my view that, given we are in the midst of a vigorous presidential election, I believe the people should have a voice on this important nomination. I continue to believe the confirmation process should wait until the people have spoken in November."
