UFCW Local 1994 MCGEO announced today its endorsement of Senator Jamie Raskin in his campaign for Maryland's 8th Congressional District.

"Local 1994 members are thrilled to be supporting Jamie Raskin, who has a proven record as an effective progressive leader and a responsive public servant from his decade in the State Senate," said Gino Renne, president of UFCW Local 1994 MCGEO. "His campaign has inspired our members by engaging in real grassroots organizing and substantive policy discussion. In Congress, we know Jamie will fight on behalf of the working families in our union as well as the people we serve in Montgomery County. We are excited to be supporting his campaign and will be using our local strength to get out a big vote on April 26th."

UFCW Local 1994 represents 8,000 public employees in Montgomery County and beyond. From its inception, UFCW Local 1994 MCGEO has fought to protect workers' rights, negotiate fair wages and protect safety and security of workers.

"I am honored to receive Local 1994's endorsement and active support in this race," Senator Raskin stated. "Given that it is a vibrant union of 8,000 members that knows how to organize and win, this is a significant step forward in our campaign. I'll always stand up for public employees in Congress and will resist attempts to demonize public sector workers and undermine the important purposes they serve."
