Location: Silver Spring, MD

The Latino Democratic Club of Montgomery County (LDC) has announced its endorsement of Senator Jamie Raskin in Maryland's 8th Congressional District.

"After a difficult multi-week decision-making process, the Latino Democratic Club of Montgomery County is proud to endorse Jamie Raskin, who is a proven progressive voice and would be an excellent successor to Congressman Chris Van Hollen," said Mayra Bayonet, President of the LDC. "Senator Raskin has, time and again, shown his pluck and willingness to join community members and activists in the trenches. A noted constitutional scholar and three-term state senator, his experience and outlook will be a welcome addition to the often-gridlocked United States House of Representatives."

The Latino Democratic Club of Montgomery County, formerly known as the Hispanic Democratic Club of Montgomery County, is a community-centered and mission-driven grassroots organization that advances the civic and political engagement of the Latino community in our county.

"I am honored to receive the endorsement of the LDC and look forward to working with its members over these final and all-important five weeks of the campaign," said Senator Raskin. "I've worked with leaders and activists in the Latino community to pass the DREAM Act in Maryland and to promote education, housing and economic development for all. In Congress, I will work for progressive policies that uplift all communities, including comprehensive immigration reform and an end to family detention and deportation, small-business job creation, and better educational opportunities for all."
