Statement by Tammy Duckworth on the Mass Shooting Incident in San Bernardino

Statement

Date: Dec. 2, 2015

My heart is broken at the images coming out of San Bernardino, and the shattered lives they foretell. I'm also angry. Last week it was Colorado Springs. Before that it was Sacramento and Boston and Minneapolis. Before that it was Charleston and it was Newtown and it was Columbine. It's astonishing that mass shooting incidents like this have become so commonplace. It's madness, and it needs to end.

My thoughts and prayers are with the victims of today's carnage, but I fully recognize thoughts and prayers aren't enough. Action is required, and I pledge to do my part and continue to work to enact sensible gun laws in this country. We are not powerless to address this crisis, and we must.
