Young Challenges Hill to Reject Clinton's 'War on Coal'

Statement

Todd Young released the following statement challenging Baron Hill to reject Democratic Presidential candidate Hillary Clinton's threat to put coal miners "out of business":

"As the economy struggles to recover from eight years of failed Obama policies, Hillary Clinton wants to double down on an agenda that would put Hoosier coal miners out of work and cause utility rates to sky-rocket for everyone else in Indiana. It's as unacceptable as Baron Hill's support for cap and trade legislation which would have an equally devastating impact on jobs and energy prices. It's time for the Democratic Senate candidate to denounce Clinton for her threats against Hoosier miners and ratepayers."

Coal power is a vital part of ensuring Hoosiers have access to affordable electricity. According to the independent U.S. Energy Information Administration, coal accounted for 85% of Indiana's electricity generation in 2014. Hoosiers defeated Democratic Congressman, Baron Hill in 2010 following his support of Obama's 'Cap and Trade' legislation.
