Former Congressman Lee Hamilton to chair Shelli Yoder's Campaign to Change Congress

Ninth District Congressional candidate Shelli Yoder today announced that respected former Indiana Congressman Lee Hamilton, who represented the district from 1964 to 1999, will serve as her Honorary Campaign Chair.

"Today, I am announcing that I will serve enthusiastically as Shelli Yoder's Honorary Campaign Chair. Shelli brings an impressive record of community service and pragmatic problem-solving to this campaign, and she understands the challenges that Hoosiers face. She is committed to fighting for the communities of Central and Southern Indiana, not for special interests or ideologically driven agendas," said Congressman Hamilton.

"Shelli will work tirelessly for the middle class, and she'll champion efforts that will create opportunities for Hoosiers by working to create jobs to grow our economy, empowering educators, supporting our infrastructure needs, and preserving and protecting Social Security and Medicare," Hamilton continued.

Yoder said she was honored by the support.

"Both during his time in Congress and since then, Lee Hamilton established a distinguished record of finding bipartisan solutions to America's toughest problems," Yoder said. "His leadership style is exactly what our country and state need right now, and I'm honored to have him serve as the chair of my Campaign to Change Congress."

Yoder, who announced her candidacy in August, believes responsible government and a strong private sector can and must work together for the good of Hoosier families in Central and Southern Indiana.

"I am committed to bringing collaborative, common sense leadership to Washington on the issues that matter to working families, who struggle to put their kids through school; issues that matter to our seniors and those most vulnerable; issues that matter to our veterans, and to small business owners in pursuit of the American dream," Yoder emphasized.

She currently serves on the Monroe County Council and teaches at the Kelley School of Business at Indiana University. She lives in Bloomington with her husband and their three children.
