Jim Banks Releases Detailed Immigration Policy Position

Today, State Senator Jim Banks, conservative Republican candidate for Indiana's Third Congressional District, released a detailed plan to secure our borders and halt illegal immigration. Banks' proposal is the most detailed immigration plan released to date in the race for Indiana's Third Congressional District. With thousands of illegal immigrants pouring across our southern border every day, Jim's first priority in Congress will be securing our borders and protecting Americans from threats abroad.
"The federal government's primary responsibility is the protection of our citizens and no where is that more important than at our borders," said Senator Jim Banks. "A porous southern border and President Obama's blanket acceptance of foreign refugees without assurance that proper security measures are in place represents a legitimate risk to our country."
In Jim's first legislative session in the Indiana State Senate, he coauthored a measure to protect Hoosiers from illegal immigrants. The bill required state and local governments to verify the citizenship status of employees as well as any contractors doing work for the government. Between his work on this bill and other immigration legislation, Jim has compiled the strongest record on immigration issues among the candidates in the race.
Banks' immigration proposals include:
- Finish 700 miles of walls on our southern border
- Eliminate federal funding for sanctuary cities
- Deport all criminal illegal aliens
- Oppose any immigration legislation that will result in amnesty for illegal aliens
- Oppose any expansion of guest-worker programs
- Implement an entry-exit visa tracking system
- Encourage employers to use rapid-response E-Verify system to check employees SSN to make sure American jobs aren't taken by illegal foreign workers
Senator Banks continues to run a substantive campaign focused on issues important to the families of the Third District. In addition to healthcare, national defense, taxes & gun rights, this is yet another policy area that Senator Banks is leading the way in advance of the May 3rd primary election.
