Jim Banks issues the following statement regarding President Barack Obama announcing his decision to close the detention center at Guantanamo Bay:

The President's plan to shutter the detention center at Guantanamo Bay is another in a long line of national security mistakes made by this administration. Simply stated, closing Guantanamo will make Americans less safe at home and abroad and I implore Congress to push back on this short-sighted, politically calculated move by President Obama.
