The following is a statement from State Senator Jim Banks, conservative Republican candidate for Indiana's 3rd Congressional District, regarding President Obama's proposed $4.1 trillion budget.

"In his eighth and final budget, President Obama continues the liberal practice of taxing and spending with no regard for fiscal restraint. At the heart of the President's budget is a $2.6 trillion tax hike that will stifle job growth and crush our rebounding economy. Massive spending hikes like this only serve to benefit the politically connected, leaving the rest of us to pay the bill. I'm running for Congress because I believe conservative principles lead to prosperity, and I am the only candidate in the race Hoosiers can count on to reject the type of unbridled spending that President Obama has proposed today."
