Our nation must move toward more energy independence. Through a comprehensive energy plan like we developed in North Dakota with EmPower ND, our country can spur development of all our energy resources with good stewardship while still promoting energy efficiency and conservation.

A national energy plan should encourage investments in new technologies like horizontal drilling, carbon capture and sequestration that allow us to develop our traditional resources with a smaller environmental footprint.

If we empower investments into energy development, rather than block them with regulations, we not only get deployment of the new technologies that will produce more energy more cost effectively, we will also get better environmental stewardship. That is the way to build an energy plan for this country that works.
