Today Maryland Congressman Chris Van Hollen released the following statement urging the Maryland Senate to reject Governor Hogan's nomination of Richard Jurgena to serve on the Handgun Permit Review Board:
"I oppose Governor Hogan's nomination of Richard Jurgena to serve on the Handgun Permit Review Board. Mr. Jurgena has openly expressed his derision for the very laws he would be entrusted to enforce, making him a bad fit for a job that puts the lives of Marylanders and the safety of our communities in the balance. I urge the Maryland Senate to properly vet every nominee to the Board to ensure they will put Maryland law and public safety first.
