Letter to the Honorable Jack Lew, Secretary of the US Department of the Treasury - Call for Treasury Department to Put Harriet Tubman on New $10 Bill

Dear Secretary Lew:

I am writing to recommend that the next portrait on the $10 bill be that of a Maryland icon and national hero, Ms. Harriet Tubman. Ms. Tubman was born in Dorchester County, Maryland and lived there for 27 years.

She was a prominent abolitionist who helped free hundreds of slaves through her courageous leadership. She was vocal about women's suffrage and an early advocate of equal rights. I believe her unwavering quest for universal freedom and equality has earned her national recognition for her role in the history of the United States and urge that her portrait be placed on the new $10 bill.

Please see the attached request from the Dorchester County Council which I wholeheartedly support.
