Today Maryland Congressman Chris Van Hollen joined Congresswoman Jan Schakowsky (D-IL) in introducing the Women's Pension Protection Act to ensure women are able to achieve a secure retirement. Lower wages over their careers, spending time out of the workforce to serve as caregivers, and other factors can lead to smaller pensions for women in retirement.
"Women face many barriers to economic security and a secure retirement that men don't, making it harder to support themselves and their families," said Congressman Van Hollen. "This bill takes vital and overdue steps to ensure women have equal access to a secure retirement, benefiting themselves, their families, and the entire economy."
