"In Merrick Garland, President Obama has put forth a jurist for the Supreme Court with a deep knowledge of the law and a distinguished record, whose nomination deserves to be considered by the Senate. The Supreme Court's work is too important to leave a vacancy for more than a year. With several important decisions coming, from voting rights to the President's executive actions on immigration, Republican obstructionism will have a significant impact on the American people, particularly vulnerable communities. It is now time for the Senate to do its job. Senate Republicans' refusal to act on a nominee will show an utter disregard for their Constitutional duty and for the American people."
