Cramer: Grand Sky Joint Use Agreement Signing Advances Uas Development in North Dakota

Congressman Kevin Cramer joined Air Force Undersecretary Lisa Disbrow and other federal, state, and local leaders today to oversee the signing of a joint use agreement between the United States Air Force and the Grand Sky UAS Business and Aviation Park.

The Joint Use Agreement allows for the Air Force and companies located at Grand Sky to share the Grand Forks Air Force Base runway. The agreement is another sign of the strong public and private partnership between Grand Forks County and the Air Force. Manufacturing giants Northrop Grumman and General Atomics Aeronautical Systems have begun construction of facilities at Grand Sky and now due to this agreement, companies such as these will be able better able to not only test technology, but better train new UAS pilots.

"Today's agreement is another step forward for Grand Sky and the development of unmanned aircraft systems in North Dakota," said Cramer. "Grand Forks and North Dakota have become the epicenter of the dynamic field of UAS development. By providing a home at Grand Sky for this young and fast-growing industry, the possibilities are endless for the future of unmanned aerial systems."
