Congressman Cramer Meets With White House and Administration Officials to Discuss Proposal to House Undocumented Minor Aliens at Grand Forks Air Force Base

Yesterday Congressman Kevin Cramer and members of his staff met with officials from the White House, the Department of Defense, and the Department of Health and Human Services to discuss the administration's proposal to house undocumented minor aliens at military installations in the United States including Grand Forks Air Force Base.

"I appreciate the willingness of the White House and administration officials to meet and discuss this issue," said Cramer. "While I am still opposed to housing undocumented alien children at any military installation, I will work with the President to see if an equitable solution can be found which doesn't threaten national security and achieves my goal of returning these children to their parents in their own country."

On Jan. 6, Cramer gave a speech on the floor of the U.S. House of Representatives outlining his opposition to President Obama's proposal to possibly house undocumented minor aliens at military installations across the country, including the Grand Forks Air Force Base.

On Dec. 31, Cramer sent a letter to Robert Carey, the Director of Refugee Resettlement at the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services stating his opposition to the administration's proposal and urging Grand Forks Air Force Base be removed from the list of military installations under consideration.
