Cramer Statement on Trans-Pacific Partnership Agreement

Statement

Date: Oct. 5, 2015
Location: Washington, DC
Issues: Oil and Gas Trade

Congressman Kevin Cramer released the following statement after the Obama administration reached an agreement with 11 other nations on the Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP) in Atlanta earlier today.

As they always say, the devil is in the details. I will scrutinize the final text of the TPP agreement to ensure it will be beneficial to North Dakota and the United States economy. I strongly believe in free trade, but unless President Obama is willing to support lifting the ban on exporting crude oil it will be very difficult for me to vote in favor of the TPP deal. Trade Promotion Authority guarantees the agreement will be subject to a rigorous and transparent review process. I look forward to constituents contacting me with their views on the deal after it has been released to the public.
