Young Supports Funding Our Roads and Bridges But Not the "Washington Business as Usual" Approach

Iowa Congressman David Young released the following statement after the U.S. House of Representatives passed the Surface Reauthorization and Reform Act of 2015, which he voted against:

Congressman Young said, "I support a highway trust fund that has the resources to keep our roads, bridges and highways in good order, because that is how we move goods to market in Iowa. But this process, of combining completely unrelated legislation in order to push it through Congress, has to stop. I oppose this practice and I'm not alone, home in Iowa, folks are sick and tired of this 'Washington business as usual' approach. Moving forward, I believe the end result can only change if the process is changed. When Congress does its work in regular order, carefully reviewing and deliberating legislation that stands on its own merits for an up or down vote, the end result is better for hardworking Iowa taxpayers and the nation as a whole."

David Young is the Congressman serving all the people of Iowa's 3rd District, with offices in Des Moines, Creston and Council Bluffs. He is a member of the Committee on Appropriations.
