Congressman Todd Young Condemns Isis Terror Attacks in Brussels

Statement

"Today we awoke to another wave of senseless terror attacks in Brussels carried out under the ISIS banner. Our prayers are with the victims and their families, those injured, and the first responders called to the tragic scenes this morning," said Young. "These attacks are intended to not only terrorize innocent people but to disrupt our way of life. They serve as a reminder that we must remain vigilant. They remind us that now, more than ever, we need strong leaders who understand how to counter radical Islamic terror using our military and intelligence capabilities."

"Following the deadly terror attacks in Paris, I urged President Obama to invoke Article 5 of the NATO Common Defense Clause. I urged him to do so as a means of transitioning from his failed security strategy to a winning one. Four months have passed, and my statements then sadly still apply to today's attacks. At this critical juncture, President Obama must take a seat at the leadership table to develop a coalition-based military strategy, increase intelligence coordination to prevent future atrocities, and ultimately defeat ISIS."
