Rep. Todd Young renews call to enact his REINS Act on heels of Supreme Court Clean Power Plan decision

Congressman Todd Young (R-IN) issued the following statement after the U.S. Supreme Court blocked implementation of the Obama administration's Clean Power Plan:

"This unprecedented decision to halt of one of President Obama's signature regulations speaks to the flawed foundation on which his expansive regulatory regime stands," said Young.

"For those of us fighting to restore sanity to the runaway regulatory process, the timing of this court decision is apt. Few can dispute that Washington's encroachment into every facet of our local business sector has hit an all-time high, while the broader economy has flat-lined."

"Mandates in Obama's Clean Power Plan are among the most egregious of his tenure and Hoosiers will see a detrimental impact to grid reliability and higher consumer costs as a result. While I'm immensely pleased Hoosiers won't be subjected to this executive overreach before the courts review its legality, I'd renew my call for Congress to do more. Regulatory reforms like my REINS Act could altogether eliminate the need for states and private citizens to defend their sovereignty in court up against a mammoth federal government's endless pockets."
