Today, Congressman Marlin Stutzman, released the following statement regarding the recreational vehicle (RV) policy announcement:
"I'm pleased that the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) finally proposed an important update to their rules that exempt RVs from manufactured housing regulations. RV's are not homes and, as such, should not be regulated by HUD which is a housing agency. In recent years, I have sent multiple letters to HUD and even introduced legislation to provide certainty for our Hoosier RV manufacturers and consumers on this issue. This new rule makes things clear and we are now one step closer to giving these businesses the clarity they need to create jobs and continue building great products for Hoosiers to enjoy. I will continue to work with my colleagues and the administration to make sure this issue gets fixed."
"Defining a bright clear line between RVs and manufactured housing has been a long sought goal for the RV industry. Representative Stutzman played a key role in helping achieve this milestone," said Frank Hugelmeyer, President of Recreational Vehicle Industry Association "RVIA looks forward to working with HUD, the Congressman and our industry partners to finalize the rule in a way that protects and promotes the RV industry."
