Stutzman Statement on Elections in Burma

U.S. Congressman Marlin Stutzman issued this statement today following reports of widespread victories in Sunday's election for the National League for Democracy (NLD), Burma's pro-democracy party.

"As results continue to come in, it appears the exercise of self-government has once again produced the promise of freedom. The people of Burma have expressed their resounding support for Aung San Suu Kyi, the National League for Democracy, and the hope of reform.

"As the NLD works to build their new government, I join the Burmese residents of Northeast Indiana in advocating for the expansion of human rights, the promotion of peace, and the strengthening of democratic ideals in Burma."
