U.S. NAVY SENDING SHIPS TO MAINE AT SENATOR COLLINS' REQUEST

Ships to be docked in Bucksport and Rockland

Washington, DC -Senator Susan Collins today announced that the U.S. Navy, in response to her requests, is sending two additional ships to Maine this summer.

"It is always an honor for Maine to host Navy ships. These visits will give people attending the Fort Knox Bay and Maine Lobster festivals a unique opportunity to meet the dedicated members of the U.S. Navy who are devoted to protecting our country," Senator Collins said.

U.S.S. Elrod Fort Knox Bay Festival Bucksport July 29 - August 1

U.S.S. Wasp Maine Lobster Festival Rockland August 2 - 7

Earlier this year, the Navy announced that three ships will be visiting Portland, Boothbay, and Belfast.

Senator Collins is a Member of the Seapower Subcommittee of the Senate Armed Services Committee, which has oversight over many naval programs including shipbuilding.
