Florida Added 2nd Most Jobs in Nation in May

According to a Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) report on job growth by state, Florida added 9,900 jobs in May, second highest total in the country. Additionally, Florida has already added 225,500 jobs in 2005, which also ranks second-highest in the country.

"Florida is a growth state, pure and simple," said Congressman Mario Diaz-Balart (R-Fla.) today. "In adding nearly 10,000 jobs in May, we continue to be among the nation's leaders in job growth.

"While the weather doesn't hurt," Diaz-Balart continued, "people come to Florida to work because of our great job growth. Our state's fantastic job growth is thanks to our comparatively low tax burden which gives businesses the opportunity to grow. I share President Bush's and Governor Bush's steadfast commitment to economic policies that create jobs and keep taxes low on hard-working families."
