Sessions Votes to Hold the Federal Reserve Accountable

Statement

Date: Nov. 19, 2015
Location: Washington, DC

U.S. Congressman Pete Sessions (R-TX), Chairman of the House Rules Committee, today released the following statement regarding the passage of H.R. 3189, the Fed Oversight Reform and Modernization Act:

"Today the House voted to pull the curtain back at the Federal Reserve so that the American people can better understand the decisions that the Fed makes and why it makes them. The Fed plays an increasingly outsized role in the American economy, which is why Americans deserve transparency and accountability from the central bank. As we continue to navigate through these uncertain economic times it is critical that Americans have the opportunity to understand the process and reasoning behind the Fed's decisions. I proudly supported this bill to rein in the power of the Fed and hold them accountable to all Americans so that the free market can properly respond to predictable and transparent monetary policy."
