Issue Position: Education

Issue Position

Taxpayers today are estimated to pay $120,000 on average per student from kindergarten through twelfth grade. Hardworking taxpayers should have more say in how that money is spent to best educate their children. There is no "one size fits all" solution for education, and Washington should not be in the business of trying to create one. I believe more control should be given to the state and local levels of educators, and the decision making ability should be returned to the states to encourage localized reform. Giving parents the ability to choose safe and effective schools will encourage innovation and bring accountability to failing systems
