Issue Position

False accusations have been made alleging that I will increase illegal immigration. In Congress, I will vote to stop illegal immigration.

I have consistently voted to ensure that illegal immigrants residing in Pennsylvania do not receive public benefits like Medicaid, welfare and unemployment compensation. My immigration legislation is a conservative solution to curbing the taxpayer burden of prison and poverty for the children of illegal aliens, who are here through no fault of their own, by granting them continued access to pay their own way through state schools, which is already mandated by our State Constitution for elementary and secondary education.

Furthermore, I oppose "sanctuary cities." Heeding the advice of local law enforcement, prosecutors and county commissioners, I voted to stop enabling a misguided slippery slope of more Federal overreach. Co-sponsored by Senators Cruz and Johnson, I support Senator Toomey's approach to ending sanctuary cities without eroding local control.

In Congress, I will support deterring penalties for any state which puts illegal aliens ahead of the line by granting them Medicaid, and unemployment or welfare benefits. Furthermore, I will sponsor the funding necessary to immediately deport any illegal alien who violates our criminal laws after serving a prison sentence.
