DeLauro Announces Over $2 Billion in Defense Funding for Connecticut

WASHINGTON, D.C. - Congresswoman Rosa L. DeLauro (Conn.-3), a member of the House Appropriations Committee, today announced over $2 billion in funding for Connecticut in the Fiscal Year 2006 Defense Appropriations bill. The funding was agreed to today by the Appropriations Committee and is expected to be considered by the U.S. House next week. DeLauro is the only member of the House Appropriations Committee from Connecticut.

"This bill is good for our military, good for our country and good for Connecticut," said DeLauro. "It provides the equipment and pay raise that our troops need and deserve and directs billions of dollars to Connecticut manufacturers, preserving and increasing manufacturing jobs in our state."

In addition to the funding for Connecticut, the bill provides a 3.1 percent pay raise for servicemembers nationwide. Overall, the defense appropriation is an increase of 3.7 percent over last year's bill.
