Governor Maggie Hassan issued the following statement on the announcement that New Hampshire has been awarded a $1 million National Coastal Wetlands Conservation Grant from the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service for conservation of the 1,114-acre Great Bay Estuary-Harvey Forest and Wetlands property in Epping and Nottingham:

"The Great Bay is one of our state's natural treasures, critical to our economy and our high quality of life, and we must do everything that we can to protect its magnificent yet fragile ecosystem, which includes the estuary and surrounding wetlands and forests. We have taken a number of important steps to strengthen conservation around the Great Bay, and I applaud our federal partners for awarding New Hampshire with this grant to build on these important efforts."
