Congressman Sherman's Statement on Violence in Israel

Statement

Congressman Sherman (D-CA), a senior member of the House Foreign Affairs Committee, released the following statement regarding recent violent attacks in Israel:

"The loss of life in Israel is tragic and it must be stopped. We must call on Palestinian officials to cease the incitement to violence. I support Israel's right to defend itself and all its citizens from attacks, and I urge that the Palestinian Authority, from President Abbas on down, to do everything in its power to prevent attacks from areas that it controls. No one can justify terrorist-style attacks on any basis -- but it is particularly outrageous when, as in this case, the violence is being incited by false rumors about holy sites."
