House Passes FY2016 Omnibus Appropriations Bill

Today, U.S. Congressman David G. Valadao (CA-21) and the entire House of Representatives voted on the fiscal year 2016 Omnibus Appropriations bill, legislation that will provide discretionary funding for the federal government for the current fiscal year.

"Our nation faces tough challenges that require difficult decision making. However, this bill provides responsible funding for nearly all aspects of the federal government. While this agreement is not perfect, it will help grow our economy and create jobs."

"While a large scale spending package is not the ideal way to provide funding for the federal government, it will enable Congress to responsibly fund the government, avoiding a shutdown. It is also important to remember that this legislation is the result of hundreds of hours of work from the House Committee on Appropriations. My colleagues and I on the Committee have held more than 100 hearings and approved each individual funding bill through an open process, ensuring our constituents needs are represented."

"In addition to many national achievements, the bill also includes provisions that will greatly benefit the Central Valley such as more than $86 million in funding for NAS Lemoore, $1.4 billion in funding for law enforcement programs that will benefit our local law enforcement agencies, and $9 billion for Head Start programs. The bill also provides no federal funding for California High Speed Rail."
