Sacramento Delta Area Members of Congress Vote No on Dangerous RAPID Act

Today, Members of Congress from the Sacramento Delta area voted no on the so-called RAPID Act, which would set arbitrary limits on vital environmental review processes for federally funded construction. If enacted, this law could lead to premature approval and construction of projects with disastrous environmental consequences, such as the Twin Tunnels project that would drain vital resources from the Sacramento Delta.

"If this bill ever became law, the voice of the Delta would be silenced and the twin tunnels would be built. I won't let that happen. I voted no," said Rep John Garamendi (D-Fairfield, CA). "My main agenda in Congress is the creation of American jobs. But this legislation wouldn't create jobs. Instead, it will curtail public input, stop environmental reviews, and undercut responsible decision-making."
