Ayotte Visits Smiths Medical in Keene to Highlight Medical Device Tax Suspension

On Monday, U.S. Senator Kelly Ayotte met with workers at Smiths Medical in Keene to discuss the two-year suspension of the Medical Device Tax that was included in the Fiscal Year 2016 appropriations bill and signed into law last week. Ayotte said the measure is good news for the 3,500 job in New Hampshire's medical device industry, including those at Smiths.

"The two-year suspension of the medical device tax will help protect jobs at Smiths Medical and other medical device manufacturers in our state that develop life-saving products," said Ayotte. "While this is a positive step, I'll continue to fight for a full repeal of this tax, which passes costs onto consumers and hinders innovation by diverting critical research and development dollars."
