Today, Senator Jeanne Shaheen (D-NH) applauded the announcement that New Hampshire will receive a $400,000 grant to improve the prosecution of sexual assault cases in the state. The funds will go towards developing new best practices for New Hampshire's justice system and strengthening the collaborative efforts of sexual assault victim services providers, law enforcement agencies, and medical forensic services providers.
"It takes tremendous bravery to report a sexual assault," said Shaheen. "Unfortunately, these cases remain very difficult to prosecute, often leaving the victim without justice. We must remain dedicated to improving our justice system so that sexual assault offenders are held accountable, and this grant provides welcome resources towards that goal."
