Shaheen Applauds Big Win In Effort to Prevent an Internet Sales Tax

This afternoon, legislation was introduced -- which is expected to soon become law -- to permanently extend the Internet Tax Freedom Act (ITFA) without proposals to impose taxes on internet sales. Senator Jeanne Shaheen (D-NH) has been a strong proponent in the Senate of extending ITFA permanently, without the threat of an internet sales tax to New Hampshire businesses. For years, supporters in Congress of an internet sales tax have tried to add this legislation to ITFA.

"For years, the Internet Tax Freedom Act has kept the Internet free of new taxes and has helped it flourish into the driver of economic growth and job creation that it is today," said Shaheen. "Congress, once again, is poised to pass this important legislation without an internet sales tax that would be devastating to Granite State businesses. I will continue my efforts to prevent internet sales tax legislation that would harm New Hampshire businesses from ever becoming law."
