Wellness Challenge Winners Announced

The Department of Social Services, Legal Services team took top honors in the Wellness Challenge held as part of the Capital Community Celebration.

A total of 37 teams including more than 667 people took part in the challenge, logging daily wellness points during the month of May, for activities ranging from walking the dog to eating more fruit. The Legal Services team averaged the highest number of wellness points per member.

"The participation by state employees was outstanding," said Gov. Mike Rounds. "This challenge was a great way to get us thinking about healthy menu choices and activities. Each of us needs to continue to work these good habits into our daily schedules. Congratulations to the Legal Services team!"

Team members were Shana Doyle, Eileen Aberle, Kirsten Jasper, Jill Wellhouse, Brent Kempema, Becky Millan, Tony Sanchez, Jeremy Lund, Ann Holzhauser, and Dan Todd.

Other teams making it into the top five of the challenge were:

· Department of Social Services, Child Protection

· Department of Social Services, Child Support

· Screaming Eagles (Dakota 2000 and Department of Health, Disease Prevention)

· Team Regulators/Team Tieszen
(Public Utilities Commission and Tieszen Law Office)

The Department of Social Services also had the distinction of having the single largest number of participants in the challenge - 162 DSS employees participated on nine separate teams.
