U.S. Representative Sean Duffy (WI-07) offered the following remarks upon voting in favor of a long-term highway safety and construction bill, the DRIVE Act.
"A long-term highway bill gives those responsible for building our highways and protecting those who travel on them the ability to do their jobs, and do them well.
"I am very pleased that it includes a long-awaited and very important weight-limit exemption that will allow logging trucks to get out of our small communities and onto a 13-mile stretch of I-39. By raising the weight limit, we will help protect truckers as well as our friends and neighbors who travel these roads."

Rep. Duffy shared frustrations that structural changes to the Export-Import bank were not included in the final egislation: "There are things in this bill -- as in any bill -- that are not ideal. I spoke in favor of important reforms to the controversial Export-Import bank; unfortunately, they were not included in the final bill. I will continue my efforts to reform the bank and ensure that taxpayers are not on the hook to bailout our country's largest businesses."
