Today, Governor Pete Ricketts issued a statement in observance of the New Year which is celebrated on January 1, 2016.

"The new year is a time for each of us to renew our commitment to the principles by which we live our lives, and set our eyes on loftier goals in the months to come.

"As we enter 2016, our team renews our pledge to all Nebraskans to make government work for the people and grow Nebraska.

"Susanne, the kids, and I wish Nebraskans a Happy New Year, and encourage you to buckle up and report unsafe driving activity to law enforcement."
