Today, Governor Rick Scott announced the Tampa area added 40,500 new jobs over the year in November. The unemployment rate in the Tampa area declined by 1.1 percentage points over the year to 4.6 percent in November. Florida businesses across the state have added more than 1 million private-sector jobs since December 2010.
Governor Scott said, "We are excited to announce that the Tampa area is leading the state in job creation, with 40,500 jobs added over the past year. Tampa also leads the state in job openings, boasting more than 52,000 advertised jobs in the area. This growth is helping Florida become first for jobs, and we look forward to seeing more businesses and families succeed in our great state."
