After last week's horrific attack in San Bernardino, the President made clear in his speech to the nation this week that he will stick with the same ineffective strategy in our fight against ISIS. And rather than advocate for a change in strategy, Senate Democrats this week instead called for a new "Czar" to handle efforts to eliminate ISIS.
We don't need another unelected federal bureaucrat in charge of our nation's strategy to combat terrorism - we need a Commander-in-Chief who is willing to step up and lead.
That's why I sent a letter with a group of my Republican colleagues to the President urging him to pursue additional military options in the fight against ISIS. By embedding U.S. military advisors to assist the Iraqi Security Forces, providing air support to supplement ground forces, and streamlining our approval process for airstrikes, we can begin to counter the violent narrative peddled by ISIS.
As we saw last week, ISIS poses a direct threat to the American people. We need a dramatic change in strategy now, before another attack occurs on American soil.
