Governor Maggie Hassan issued the following statement on the New Hampshire Superior Court case, City of Dover v. State of New Hampshire:
"A strong public education system is critical to helping our students develop the skills and innovative thinking needed for success in the 21st century economy, and we must ensure that we are meeting our obligations to local school districts. I understand the concerns raised by communities about school funding levels, and I agree with the Attorney General's determination that the funding levels for certain school districts this fiscal year are not legally defensible. The legislature should do the right thing for our students in these towns and fully fund the districts to comply with the adequacy formula and address the concerns raised by communities."
